The Funeral

On November 26th we held the funeral for Paul's dad. It was cold but sunny and all the family was there. Before the funeral we had some of the family over for Breakfast.
The funeral was really nice. All the great grandkids and grandkids sang a song. Holli and Dave did a duet that was absolutely amazing. Mike Paulsen spoke as well as Madison. It was a great tribute to Paul.
Afterwards we went back to my ward and they served us a wonderful lunch. It was a beautiful day and one that we will always remember.

Paul H. Paulsen

Sadly on November 17th Paul's mom called to say that his dad was not doing very well and she needed some help. The next morning we loaded the car along with Holli and Grayson and headed for St. George.
When we arrived we were so surprised to see how poorly he was doing. All of the siblings came down also and we helped Jewel take care of Paul. Hospice was called and we all watched and waited for that dreadful time. There were alot of great stories shared about fond memories that they had had with their dad. He was an amazing man and had sacrificed alot for his children. On Sunday morning around 4:00 a.m. he finally passed. Tears were shed and goodbyes were said. We helped Jewel clean things up and then all of the family headed back to Salt Lake to get things ready for the funeral.

Salt Lake City's 2011 Annual Fireman Ball

Today was the Fireman's ball and it was held at the Little America Hotel downtown. Happy hour was from 6-7 and then the program and awards were from 7-8:30. Dinner was served afterwards and then they even had dancing. The night was really fun and we sat at a table with Paul's old crew members, Darren Baum, Mark Hafen, Jim Galusha and their wives.
Paul was awards Fire Officer of the Year. It was really exciting and adds to his career as a Firefighter. I was so proud of him and he looked so handome in his dress blues.
The night was a great success and a lot of fun seeing alot of his fellow firefighters that he has worked with during his 21 year career as a Firefighter.
