Christmas Eve

At Noon today my brother Mark was on his way back home, so Paul and I went out to the airport to see him while he had a two hour sit in between flights. It was good to see him but I could tell he was a little down as this would be his first year without any of his kids around him. His girls were in Texas and the boys are in California. Maybe next year they can all get together for a Birkeland Christmas.

 

 

This year my parents were here and so we all went to a movie with Kaillie and Alex. We all couldn't decide on the same movie so most went to the Hobbit and my mom and I went to see a chick flick. It was a really great movie. Afterwards we tried to find a resturant that we could all go to but everything was closing. So we just came back to the house and made breakfast. Afterwards as each family arrived they opened the traditional one present and their found their new pj's. Now it's time for bed so that Santa can make his roads to all good girls and boys.

 

Family Christmas Party

We had all the kids over for dinner and then afterwards we played some fun Christmas games. The one we play every year is the Right and Left game where everyone starts with a present and then I read a story about the Wright family, anytime you hear the word right or left you pass your present and whent he story is over you get the present you are left with. We also so played Christmas Bingo. Nikki and Steven went home a little early as they are both working on little sleep with the new baby Kes. It was so nice to have everyone there for dinner though. I think the kids had a good time.
Marsha and her son Greg and his family came over also for dessert and even Jewel was there. My poor mom had came down with the flu earlier in the day so had to spend the whole day upstairs in bed. I felt so bad for her that she wasn't able to have fun with the rest of the family.

Paul's mom

Today we went to the temple to seal Paul's mom and dad together and to also seal the three brothers, Mike, Don and Paul to their parents.   It was a beatiful ceremony and I was so happy for Jewel to finnaly have taken this step. The interesting thing was that she really wanted to have this work done so that see could die and be with Paul again, but the sealer told her that was not what Paul wanted her to do. That her time was now to be spent with her children and being apart of their life. I'm not sure if she really got it but I am hopefull. Hoping that she will take better care of herself and that she will try and be apart of her children's lives more often.
All of my girls were there and also Alex who was the witness. Mike and Sandy and Lydia were there and Don and Marva.

Dinner with the Millerbergs

Jan and Brian invited us up for a yummy dinner and great company. Jan as always made a wonderful dinner of salmon, beans, twice baked potatoes. Salad and yummy cinnamon rolls. The night was great just visiting and talking about our up coming trip to Australia in March..Can't wait...

Morman Tab Christmas Concert

This year all my girls drew out for the concert but me, but lucky for me, Kailie and Nikki didn't want to go. So I took Kailie's tickets and invited Mike and Marsha to come along and see the great concert.
We went out to dinner first and then walked through Temple Square to see the lights. We got there early and had pretty good seats right in the middle of the place. Tom Brokroft was the narriator and Alfie Boe was the guest singer. He had a beautful voice and the program was very nice.
Afterwards we went out to Coldstone for some ice cream It was a really fun night.

Baby Keslee is born

On December 10, 2012 our new little grandbaby came into this world at about 2:00 p.m. She weighed in at 6.13 and was 20 1/2 inches long. She has black hair and more than her older siblings did. She is perfect in every way. She has been a really good baby for Nikki. She has been nursing well and even pooping well. Both mommy and baby are doing great.

Our annual Dickins Festival

Every year I look forward to seeing the best EVER Santa in the world. We have been going to him since Nichole was two years old. Really I think it is really him. Anyway since my kids are to old now for the whole sitting on Santa's lap thing I have picked the tradition right up with taking my grand kids every year to see this magical man.
Last year Ryland was a little afraid and wanting nothing to do with his lap. But this year with a little encouragement she sat but not smiled on his lap  We did manage though to get a smile out of Grayson and Porter. Just think next year we will have four little cuties on his lap...
