Uncle Larry

There are a lot of addictions in the world and one of the worst ones is Alcoholism. My mom is a convert to the Morman church and her family in which she was raised doesn't practice any kind of religion and also all of her siblings have had their struggles with different kinds of addictions. Her youngest sister died from smoking at way to young of an age to die. Her oldest brother died from Parkinson's but he too had his addictions. She also has a younger sister who has her addiction to smoking.  My mom's youngest brother and to whom I am closest to, both in age and in life, is now dying from his addiction to alcohol. He has smoked a great part of his life but quite about 15 or so years ago. But as for the drinking he has done this his entire life. I think it has caused his three divorces and has put a strain on his family relationship he has with his children.
I love my uncle Larry so very much and it breaks my heart to see him go this way. This past weekend Paul and I and my mom, his sister all boarded a plane and flew to Redmond to help take care of him. He was found last week almost dead by a neighbor. He hasn't been eating properly and has pretty much just been drinking himself to death. Which he has almost done. He has lost so much weight and currently only weighs 142 lbs. It was so sad to see him such a little man.

We helped feed him and care for him and try to build his strength back up. I'm not sure how much longer he has, but the doctors there said he had pretty much ruined his liver.  We are all hoping that he can see what he has done to himself and stop his drinking forever and hopefully live out the remaining part of his life dry.

While we were there I was able to see alot of my cousins that I haven't seen for years. I forget to get a picture of Tammy and Steve and also of Nick and Alice, but it was so great to see them all. Teri and her family came the day we left but got to visit with them for an hour or so and her daughter Tara and her family came on Saturday and we spent a good portion of the day with them. My Aunt Mayon came on Saturday night and it was great to see her also.

We came back on sunday and my mom stayed for the rest of this week to help his kids out care for him so that they can get their family lives in order. I really hope and pray that the good lord will give him another chance to make amends on family issues to clean up his act and to being able to live a little longer.
My childhood memories of this man have always been wonderful and because we are only 12 years apart I have always felt very close to him like he has been an older brother to me.
I love you Larry....please please please stop the drinking and stay with us a little longer.
